Reading Together, Reading Aloud:
Dementia Friendly Reading Groups
Do you love books?
Would you enjoy being read to?
Come and Join in this FREE activity in the Social Centre, Bluehouse Lane, Oxted (fortnightly on Thursdays 2.30-3.30) or the Douglas Brunton Centre, Park Road, Caterham (fortnightly on Wednesdays 10.45am - 12.00pm)
Reading Together and Reading Aloud is a project run by Tandridge Voluntary Action (TVA) and is a great way to meet other people.
It may also help you if you are experiencing problems with memory or concentration.
We are always looking for more volunteers to support these groups - reading or driving people to the sessions. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01883 722593 for more information.
The fortnightly sessions are led by volunteers who carefully choose short stories, poems or items of current interest to read aloud and chat about. You are also welcome to bring or suggest material you would like to hear or talk about and you might even like to read aloud to the group yourself
Group members tell us..
"I enjoy coming we like the different stories and the occasional poem"
"It's nice to meet other people instead of being indoors on your own!"
"My son thinks it's very good and I have to come!"
