I joined TVA (or TVSC as it was then) in 2016 after a career in the public sector, managing front-line services, community and partnership initiatives.
Following a voluntary role with the family support charity Home-Start, I am delighted to be part of the TVA team, working with many stakeholders to support voluntary organisations and strengthen communities to make a positive impact in Tandridge.
I was a volunteer myself for Oxted Volunteer Centre and was fortunate enough to be appointed as the Volunteer Centre Manager in April 2016 having come from a training background.
I live in Oxted and I am constantly astounded at how our district is lucky to have people coming forward to volunteer with our local charitable and not for profit organisations and who then have rewarding and enjoyable experiences as volunteers.
I love my job and feel very privileged to be part of Tandridge Voluntary Action.
I have worked in the TVA team for 3 years and no two days are the same.
I live in the area and have been involved with volunteering myself for over 10 years, so Volunteer Centre Manager seemed an obvious role to take on. I get to meet amazing people who want to help others.
The range of charities and organisations we work with is very varied, as the voluntary sector continues to grow across Tandridge.
I took over as the Co-ordinator of this invaluable friendship scheme in June 2017. My previous work life has covered many different aspects of community development and empowerment in both the voluntary and public sector.
As always, the volunteers I meet and the colleagues I liaise with are truly wonderful characters who really do make a difference in the community we live in on a daily basis.
I worked as a freelance IT Trainer for over 24 years training everyone from large corporate clients to individuals in their own homes.
I was a volunteer myself before coming to work at TVA and during the 2.5 years I have been with the organisation I have been amazed by the hard work all the charitable organisations none of which would be possible without people volunteering.
Our trustees are all volunteers who give their time to set the direction and drive the work of TVA. They meet throughout the year and ensure everything is running well and it is meeting its charitable objectives. They bring a range of expertise skills and knowledge.
